Palak Saag With Banana Koftas

Ingredients

Serves : 3
  • 1-2 medium raw banana


  • 1 tbsp corn flour


  • 1 green chilli crushed


  • 1" ginger crushed


  • 1/2 tsp salt


  • 1 big bunch of palak leaves


  • 1-2 green chillies


  • 5-10 peppercorns


  • 1/4 cup milk


  • 1/2 tbsp corn flour


  • 1/2 tsp corn flour


  • 1 tbsp jeera


  • 1/4 tbsp hing


  • 1 tbsp ghee

Directions

  • Steam the raw banana in pressure cooker
  • Once it cools peel and mash
  • Add salt, corn flour, crushed green chillies and ginger with salt
  • Make small round koftas
  • Roll them in semolina and pan fry in appe pan
  • Alternatively you can deep fry them by coating them with maida ans water slurry
  • For the saag bring water to a boil
  • Add the palak leaves and let them boil for 5 minutes
  • Immediately drain and transfer the leaves to ice cold water
  • This helps retain the green colour
  • Puree them in a blender along with green chillies to a smooth consistency
  • Heat ghee in a pan
  • Add the cumin seeds and hing
  • Once it splutters add the puree and sautee well
  • Add the corn flour to milk and mix well without lumps
  • Add this to the pan and mix everything well
  • Check for salt and spice and add if necessary
  • Bring everything to a boil
  • Just before serving add the koftas and let them soak up the saag flavour.
  • Optionally you can give one more tadka with ghee and red chillies
